How to find my passion

How to Find My Passion When I Know I Can’t Stay Where I Am

“I don’t want to help people. At least not yet. But I also can’t sit at this office desk one more year. I feel like I’m dying a little every day. I have hobbies but these are for me and I don’t know whether these could also be my vocation.” How to find my passion?

These are the kinds of words I often hear – not just from women – on the edge of transformation. And I remember them well — because I’ve been there too. There’s a particular kind of ache that comes when you know your soul is calling you forward, but you don’t know where “forward” actually leads.

You only know one thing for sure: You can’t stay where you are.

Meet Sharon: A woman at a crossroads

Sharon is 39. She’s worked in corporate finance for over a decade. On paper, she’s successful — a good salary, stability, benefits, and a reputation for being reliable. She should feel grateful. But for the past year, every day has felt heavier.

She wakes up exhausted, even after 8 hours of sleep. Her Sunday evenings are filled with dread. The tasks she once performed on autopilot now feel suffocating. It’s not burnout — she’s not just tired from doing too much. She’s tired of doing the wrong things.

And yet, she’s stuck in the middle.

She doesn’t feel like she has a real passion. She’s not drawn to healing or coaching or creating content online like some others. She doesn’t know how and feels helpless how to “inspire people.” In fact, the thought of becoming a light worker feels completely foreign to her. She doesn’t want to lead — she just wants to feel alive and resonate with people around her.

But every time she looks at her future in that office — the meetings, the spreadsheets, the gray walls — a voice inside her says, This is not it. This can’t be it.

That voice is your soul.
And if you’ve heard it, too — even if it’s just a whisper — this post is for you.

How to find my passion? You don’t have to be ready to help others

One of the most common myths about passion and purpose is that it always involves helping others, guiding others, or becoming some kind of teacher. But what if your passion doesn’t look like that?

What if your passion is about creating something beautiful with your hands?
What if your passion is about walking in forests and learning the language of trees?
What if your passion is a quiet, internal flame that doesn’t need to be broadcasted to the world?

You don’t need to lead others to live from your soul.
You only need to lead yourself — one brave step at a time. That is the real inspiration for others, because it makes you fulfilled.

You Don’t Have to Be Ready to Help Others

The inner conflict: I want more, but I don’t know what is my passion

Here’s where most people get stuck — in the gap between the life they’ve outgrown and the life they haven’t yet discovered. This gap can feel terrifying. It’s full of unknowns. There’s no roadmap. No job title to Google. No recruiter can offer you clarity about your soul’s next move.

But that gap is also holy.
It’s where you meet your real self.

Instead of rushing to figure it all out, here’s what I suggest:
Learn to live in the gap with curiosity, not fear.
Because when you stop demanding immediate answers, passion can begin to whisper.

The first clue: What drains you vs. what nourishes you

If you don’t yet know what lights you up, start by noticing what dims you down.
Ask yourself:

  • What part of my current work drains my energy the most?
  • What moments in my week make me feel alive — even if they’re fleeting?
  • Where do I lose track of time (in a good way)?

For Sharon, the answers were surprising.
She realized she came alive when she was alone in nature, when she was organizing small spaces, or when she was creating playlists for her friends. These weren’t “career paths,” but they were clues.

She didn’t jump to monetizing any of it. She didn’t launch a brand overnight. She just let herself notice. And over time, she began experimenting — one workshop, one retreat, one creative hobby at a time. Passion isn’t always a lightning bolt. Sometimes it’s a breadcrumb trail.

How to find it? Let go of the pressure to “figure it out”

Here’s a truth you might need to hear today:
You don’t need to know your five-year plan.
You don’t need to have a passion statement ready to impress anyone.
You only need to take the next aligned step.

When you’re in the in-between, don’t aim for perfection. Aim for presence.
Explore. Try things. Quit things. Return to yourself again and again.
This is how you build a soul-led life — not from certainty, but from courage.

The past will pull you. The future will scare you. Stay here.

When you’re awakening to your soul path, your mind may try to sabotage you.

  • You’ll remember all the times you tried something new and “failed.”
  • You’ll compare yourself to people who “found their passion early.”
  • You’ll panic about money, time, stability, and what others will think.

That’s normal. But none of it means you’re not ready.
It just means you’re human.

The most powerful thing you can do is return to the present moment.
Ask yourself each day:

  • What does my soul want today?
  • What energy do I want to live in?
  • What one thing could I do that brings me closer to joy?

That’s how the path unfolds — not in a flash of insight, but in daily presence.

Your Passion May Not Look Like Anyone Else’s

Your passion may not look like anyone else’s

Sharon didn’t become a healer.
She didn’t start a YouTube channel or write a blog.

Instead, she transitioned into part-time work to give herself breathing space. She studied feng shui for fun. She began volunteering once a week in a community garden. And in one of those afternoons, she had a breakthrough.

She realized she wanted to study interior energy design — a blend of space clearing, home healing, and emotional resonance in physical environments. She wanted to work with people through their spaces, not through coaching sessions.

Now she’s slowly building a business that feels like a soul expression. Not to help the world. Not to be seen. But to feel real in her own skin.

That’s what passion does.
It doesn’t always look loud or impressive.
It just feels like home.

You are allowed to change

You are not here to fulfill an outdated version of yourself.
You are not meant to “stick it out” at a job that drains your spirit.
You are not a failure for not knowing your next steps.

You are allowed to outgrow.
You are allowed to be lost for a little while.
You are allowed to be reborn — as many times as your soul desires.

Let this be your starting point

If you’re reading this and feel like Sharon — knowing something has to change but not knowing what — trust this:

The moment you admit, “I don’t want to stay,” is the moment you begin to move.
That’s sacred. That’s brave. That’s enough for today.

So ask yourself:

  • What am I no longer available for?
  • What am I ready to feel, even if I can’t explain it yet?
  • What am I curious to try, just once?

Then go. Take one small step.

Because your soul doesn’t need a business plan —
She just needs you to listen.

I’m here to listen to you, if you wish to talk.
